Living Wax Museum for 3rd Grade 2018/2 - Memorial Bench @ San Francisco Bay Area

いよいよ3年生の「The Biography Project」が始まりました！NotableかFamous Personを選び、読んで書いてプレゼンをするという流れ。でもこのプロジェクト、基本的には家でのサポートが必須のプロジェクトというお達しが😲

Timelineとしては、まずは人物決め！そしてタイムカプセルプロジェクトとして、その人物にまつわる5つのアイテムをオートミール缶の中に入れ、外側をクリエイトする時間も設けられています。

そして最後にはLiving Wax Museumでプレゼン！20〜30秒でプレゼンできるように練習するのも家での宿題です😤課題の内容は以下です↓↓↓

Expectations for Biography Oral Presentation

・　20 - 30 seconds

・　Presentations should be in the first person. (ex: “I was born in…”)

・　During the presentation, students should introduce themselves, tell when they were alive, share interesting facts that highlight their accomplishment(s), and how or why they inspire others.

・　Students should use at least one prop that will make their presentation interesting. For example, a light bulb for Thomas Edison, a key for Benjamin Franklin, etc. Students should be prepared to explain the significance of their prop.

・　Students should dress in costume.

・　Students should practice their presentations at home in a loud, clear, expressive voice.

・　Students need to memorize their presentation.

Example Speech for Roberto Clemente:

My name is Roberto Clemente and I was a hero on and off the baseball field. I was born in Puerto Rico on August 18, 1934. I was a star outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates for 18 seasons. I also worked to help people in need. In 1972, I died in a plane crash while taking supplies to earthquake victims in Central America. The next near, I became the first Latin American elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. I am inspiring because I was a dedicated athlete and I was thoughtful and generous to others.

f:id:memorialbench-sf:20180210145646j:plain いよいよプレゼン当日！教室ごとに4つのカテゴリーに振り分けられていました。長男はHistorical Figures, Authors, and Adventures / Explorersのお部屋。

f:id:memorialbench-sf:20180210145802j:plain 教室の中に入ると、壁際に子ども達が並んでいて、蝋人形になりきっている子も😁長男は「Charles Lindbergh」について調べました。

f:id:memorialbench-sf:20180210145816j:plain このピンクのシールを押すとプレゼンスタート！私は最初すっかりそのことを忘れていて、他の子ども達に「Hi! Who are you?」などとすっとぼけたことを聞いていました。子ども達の方がよっぽど大人で、私の質問は無視‼️えっ？なんで反応がないの？と引いてしまった私でしたが、その後すぐにこのシールのことを思い出し、シールにタッチしたら生が宿りすごい勢いで喋り始めます😆

次女はこの時期に日本に本帰国してしまったので経験していませんが、長女は渡米してすぐの右も左も分からない時に、いきなりのプレゼン！マザーテレサについて調べ、それはそれは緊張しながら頑張ってプレゼンし、こちらも感動して泣いてしまったのを思い出しました。当時はクラスメイトやその日に発表する子の父兄達の前でのプレゼンでしたが、今思うと緊張しますよね。今回のこのLiving Wax Museumの方が話しやすかったと長男が言っていました。良かったね♪
